Building Our Dual-Purpose Grill: Where BBQ Meets Bread at Molaho
Sometimes the best things at Molaho grow from simple inspirations. After discovering an interesting design online for a combination grill and oven, our weekend haven gained another wonderful addition. Using concrete blocks, determination, and creative designing, an unique outdoor cooking station emerged – with a clever twist of having the oven built right into the structure beneath the grilling area.
The building process was a lesson in precision. Each concrete block needed careful consideration, creating a sturdy structure that would house both cooking spaces in one vertical design. The work involved thoughtful planning – establishing a solid foundation, stacking the blocks strategically to incorporate both the upper grilling area and the lower oven space, and ensuring proper ventilation throughout.
What emerged is an ingenious two-in-one cooking station. The light gray concrete blocks give it a simple feel that somehow perfectly complements Molaho’s natural surroundings. The upper level stands ready for weekend BBQs with its sturdy charcoal grate, while beneath, the oven chamber, secured with its handcrafted wooden door, awaits pizza and bread-making adventures.
Now, weekend gatherings have gained new dimensions. The aroma of grilling food mingles with the scent of baking bread, all from the same cleverly designed structure. There’s something deeply satisfying about being able to grill and bake simultaneously in this handmade space, surrounded by friends and family.
From impromptu BBQ sessions to planned baking days, this multi-purpose cooking station has become another heart of our community space. It’s amazing how concrete blocks, some practical knowledge, and dedicated work can create something that brings so much joy to our Molaho family.
The structure stands as testament to what we value here at Molaho – creating beautiful, functional spaces that bring people together. Whether it’s the sizzle of food on the grill or the warmth of freshly baked bread emerging from the lower oven, our outdoor cooking station adds another layer of magic to our mountain retreat.
