Planting Day at MoLaHo: A Garden Full of Possibilities!
After all the hard work we put into preparing our garden beds, we were finally ready for the fun part—planting! Just a few days later, we gathered all our seedlings that had been lovingly nurtured on our balcony and green house, along with some strong plants we bought that were ready to thrive in the soil. It felt like we were about to launch a little green army into the world!
And it is because, after all the lessons learned from our balcony garden and the challenges I faced, planting day at MoLaHo felt like a triumphant celebration of growth and perseverance.
We took our time to organize everything according to companion planting principles. It’s amazing how certain plants can benefit from each other’s company, and we wanted to make sure our garden was both beautiful and efficient. Here’s how we arranged our beds:
- Eggplants and Bell Peppers: These two get along famously, so we nestled them together in one bed, hoping they’d thrive side by side.
- Chayote: This climbing beauty found a cozy spot nearby, in our vineyard (haha) eager to spread its vines.
- Cherry Tomatoes: We planted various colors of cherry tomatoes in another bed, ensuring they had plenty of sun and space to grow.
- Herbs: Rosemary and basil were planted together, creating a fragrant companion duo that would enhance our meals.
- Pumpkin: We gave the pumpkin its own little corner, knowing it would need room to sprawl out.
- Papaya and Guava: These tropical delights were planted in a sunny spot where they could soak up all the warmth.
- Avocado: We made sure our avocado tree had its own space to reach for the sky.
- Cape Gooseberry: This unique plant joined the mix, adding an interesting twist to our garden.
- Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes: We nestled these underground treasures together, excited to see what wonders would sprout.
- Watermelon and Figs: Finally, we gave watermelon and figs their own cozy corner, dreaming of sweet summer treats.
As we planted each seedling, we made sure to mark their spots with white pebbles. This little trick not only kept us from stepping on the newly planted areas but also helped us keep track of what we had planted where. It felt like we were building a secret garden, each pebble marking a new adventure waiting to unfold.
With everything planted and arranged beautifully, we stood back and admired our hard work. There’s something incredibly hopeful about seeing tiny seedlings in the soil, and we couldn’t wait to watch them grow. Of course, we know that gardening is a journey filled with lessons, and we’re ready to learn from our mistakes if things don’t go as planned.
Here’s to a season of growth, exploration, and perhaps a few surprises along the way! We’re filled with anticipation as we look forward to nurturing our little garden at MoLaHo. Stay tuned and way for our updates!🌱🌼✨
